Meeting the guardians of Uighur heritage

Around 200,000 Uighurs live in safety in southeastern Kazakhstan, near China’s Xinjiang region, where their colleagues are facing violent repression at the hands of Beijing. The duty went to meet these guardians of Uighur heritage, whose culture and language are severely threatened in China. Our team also met a survivor of a re-education camp in Xinjiang, who offers a rare testimony of what takes place there.
