Meditation rooms in schools, a good idea!

Regarding the prohibition of prayer rooms in schools in Quebec, I agree with the position of Quebec solidaire to accept meditation rooms in schools.

I will go further to say that a meditation space should be part of the solutions to be put in place to help our students and all staff members who experience anxiety. A quiet place to calm down, clear your head of all the fuss around you and refocus. In all schools.

We are faced with several challenges in education, including anxiety. Our young people have many reasons to worry about everything that is happening in the world, without having the resources to help them. The staff is overworked. We need to clear some space in our heads to see clearly.

Imagine a quiet place where anyone in the school can come in for two minutes or an hour to sit on a carpet or a chair and “meditate”. Some will pray, others will clear their heads, still others could find their means there in order to face a test in a subject or to calm down after an argument or a disappointment.

In a school, we need a quiet space where we feel accepted and respected, regardless of age, gender, religion, origins and reasons for meeting there.
