A strike affects the medical analysis laboratories from Monday, November 14, and this, for several days. This closure on almost all of France disturbs patients.

Monday, November 14, 95% of medical analysis laboratories close their doors for a period of at least three days. Only the most urgent cases are taken care of, but for people who have to carry out a PCR test or a blood test, it will be necessary to wait for the reopening of the establishments. “I have to have surgery on Wednesday morning so I absolutely need a PCR test (…) and suddenly because of their strike, I will postpone my operation which is urgent”laments a patient.

The biologists have decided to go on strike in order to show their opposition to the financial effort demanded by the government, which wishes to make savings amounting to 250 million euros per year. Thus, laboratories will earn less money on each analysis. “Automatically, it will limit our ability to invest, it will limit our ability to meet patient expectations”laments medical biologist Jean-Marc Breton. To justify this financial effort, the government highlights the record turnover achieved during the Covid. The Minister of Health reacted by explaining that this strike is “inadmissible”.
