Whether white or red, eating meat is becoming more and more expensive for the French. Over the past month, prices have increased by 5% on average. Increases which, according to the butcher, are explained by higher bills in recent months. Butchers, transporters, breeders: it is a whole sector which today passes on its additional costs to the consumers. It starts in the field. To mountain ash (Loire)Gerard gallot raises 80 cows. For a year, between fodder for his livestock and diesel for his tractor, his expenses have soared. “On a farm like ours, it’s 10,000 to 15,000 euros more than last year”explains Gerard gallot.
