At Mazda, the 2024 model year is mainly marked by the arrival of the new CX-90 and CX-70. We’ve already tested the first, in case you haven’t read our review yet, and the second will be unveiled very soon.
Other novelties affect the rest of the range, such as the Suna edition announced today. It will be available with several popular models, namely the Mazda3 Sport, the CX-30, the CX-5 and not to mention the MX-30 urban electric crossover.
Just like the previously launched Kuro edition, the new Suna will feature gloss black colored elements on the exterior, such as the grille, alloy wheels and mirror caps. At the same time, it will stand out for its unique color palette. Since ‘suna’ means ‘sand’ in Japanese, Zircon Sand Metallic paint will be offered, as is currently the case with the CX-50.
The interior mixes materials and colors, such as terracotta upholstery with black suede inserts, combined with terracotta stitching and dark bronze accents. Very stylish.
Naturally, Mazda will retain under the hood the most efficient engine of the models in question, namely a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and i-ACTIV all-wheel drive. Power and torque are 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft respectively with premium gasoline, otherwise 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft with regular gasoline.
Unfortunately, the company does not provide further details at this time. Pricing and specific features for each Suna edition will be known at the same time as Mazda introduces its 2024 models.
