“It’s disturbing, and as a Montrealer it shocked me. We asked the SPVM to investigate this situation and the Ministry of Public Security, which will do the same,” she said Monday at the end of the day, after a press briefing. .

During the intervention, which occurred on Thursday, two officers arrested and handcuffed Mr. Dossa who was near his own car, because they suspected him of theft. Once his identity was established, he had to wait long minutes for the police to find the keys to his handcuffs before he could finally be released.

A situation that he described as “racial profiling” during an interview with TVA Nouvelles.

Ms. Plante nevertheless insisted on recalling that the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is the first police force to have adopted a policy on arrests.
