In 2018, Michel Sardou bid farewell to the stage and to music. The singer, now 75 years old, then declared that he wanted to devote himself more actively to the boards and to the cinema, he who has multiplied the roles during his career in show business. But, four years later, the popular artist is not closing any doors…
Interviewed by the magazine Paris Match while the musical devoted to his repertoire, I will love you, a hit at the Seine Musicale, Michel Sardou took stock of his current life and his desires. Asked about the fact that the hot news is loaded with themes that could inspire songs, he assured that he no longer wanted to write. “Anyway, I never surfed the news to make a success. I’ve always been ahead of my time“, says the one to whom we owe the tubes France, Be a woman or The Ricans. So the music is definitely over for good? “I do not know. Let’s say we have to think. Do not make a return for a return. It has to make sense. Maybe it will come…“, he declares.
Michel Sardou, who currently lives in Normandy in a house near Deauville with his wife Anne-Marie Périer, ensures that he does not “don’t get bored” far from Paris. “I work, I watch the news“, he describes, adding that he prepares his return to the big screen in a film by Olivier Marchal. This does not prevent him from making jumps through the capital, he who went to discover in person I will love you. “I was pleasantly surprised (…) When the musical begins to the tune of Singing, hearing people cover my songs… it touched me. This troupe blew me away. They sing, dance, play tremendously well (…) I never would have imagined that we would make an American show, a bit like on Broadway“, confides Michel Sardou, usually not really famous for being generous in compliments!
