May 1 will see all the unions marching side by side, in full protest against the pension reform. 300 gatherings are planned throughout France. Behind the scenes, the stakes and the final preparations are being put in place.

On the morning of April 30, on the markets, opponents of the pension reform are preparing for May 1. Activists from La France insoumise call for demonstrations. The message is well received by some in a popular district of Lille (North). “Tomorrow is a show of force for the unions against this infamous pension reform”says a woman. 300 rallies are planned for May 1.

Rallies that target Emmanuel Macron

For the first time in 14 years, the unions will parade together on May 1. The intelligence services predict processions provided, between 500,000 and 650,000 people in France. The inter-union is betting on a tidal wave. Tomorrow, the rallies will target pension reform but also Emmanuel Macron. “His relentlessness and stubbornness added to the social crisis a political crisis (…). We see that this pension reform is there only by the will of a single man”deplores Sophie Binet, secretary general of the CGT.
