Paralympic snowboard banked slalom champion in Beijing, Frenchman Maxime Montaggioni is training to participate in the Paris 2024 Games with the French taekwondo team.

“I am a ‘samourider’, half-samurai, half-rider.” It is with this wit and a big smile that Maxime Montaggioni likes to introduce himself. At 33, the snowboarder from Nice has set himself a crazy dream: to participate and fight for a medal at the Paralympic Summer Games. Gold medalist in banked slalom in Beijing in 2022, he is now aiming for Paris 2024, with the French taekwondo team.

Between Nice and INSEP

“It’s a new challenge, after my medal in snow it was hard to stay mobilized, I had finally reached a goal that I had set myself for a long time. I had won but I was not fulfilled”, he recalls. He has now switched all his training to taekwondo, which he has practiced for a long time. He goes back and forth between Nice and Paris, to work at INSEP. And hope to live his dream.
