The European short course swimming championships in Romania concluded on Sunday with a tally of 23 medals for France.

After the beautiful day the day before, the French distinguished themselves again, Sunday December 10, at the end of the European short course swimming championships. The French selection added four medals, bringing its total of charms to 23. France finished second in the ranking behind Great Britain.

Mewen Tomac obtained the first medal of the evening, in bronze, in the 200 meter backstroke. His second reward after his victory in the 100 meter backstroke on Friday. Expected at the turn, Anastasiia Kirpichnikova was six hundredths away from winning gold in the 400 meter freestyle, but it was ultimately the Italian Simona Quadarella who achieved the best time and won the race.

With two charms already on the clock, one in bronze and one in silver, Maxime Grousset had already succeeded in his European Championships. But the Frenchman concluded perfectly with a gold medal obtained in the 100 meter freestyle, five hundredths ahead of the Italian Alessandro Miressi. In the 1500 meters, David Aubry won silver behind Irishman Daniel Wiffen. The last medal was obtained during the mixed 4×50 meter medley relay. The French team, led by Mewen Tomac, Florent Manaudou, Beryl Gastaldello and Charlotte Bonnet, won silver behind a strong Italian team.
