As part of the “Nuits de la lecture 2023”, an event created in 2017 by the Ministry of Culture, the Pocket editions and the Furet du Nord organized an exceptional meeting with the themes of suspense and fear. For the occasion, several thriller authors were invited to discuss this subject, namely Maxime Chattam, Bernard Minier and Franck Thilliez. Three writers whose works are among the most widely read in France.
How do they transform their anxieties into diabolical tales? How do they trace the implacable mechanisms of the factory of fear… to the pleasure of reading? During this meeting, the three authors answered several questions all related to their favorite literary genre… And to the question “ What is Maxime Chattam’s greatest fear? host Faustine Bollaert’s husband responded frankly.

“One day, I became a dad…”
“For a long time I would have answered ‘not much’ », he began. And to add: “And then one day, I became a dad, and then the trouble started”he said in a tone of laughter.
Married to the host of “It starts today” (France 5) since 2012, Maxime Chattam is the proud father of two children Abbie, 9, born in 2013 and Peter, 7, born in 2015. A life of family that the famous 47-year-old author and his wife prefer to lead in the provinces. And for good reason, just like Bernard Cazeneuve, Xavier Niel or Guy Carlier, it is in the south of the Oise that Maxime Chattam and Faustine Bollaert have been settling down for several years. In Chantilly, a princely city located 50 km north of Paris, the couple can enjoy the joys of nature, while remaining close to the capital.
