Once again untouchable, Max Verstappen flew over the sprint race of the Austrian Grand Prix on Saturday July 1, winning ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez. The Dutch driver therefore increases his lead in the championship. By gleaning 8 additional points, he now has a mattress of 70 points on Sergio Perez. In pole position Sunday for the Grand Prix, he is in the best conditions to continue his momentum.

Given in torrential rain, the start was chaotic with a tense battle between Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, who overtook each other by brushing against each other several times. It was finally the Dutch driver who took the lead and never let go. Behind, Nico Hülkenberg (Haas), who started on the second row, took advantage of this chaos to take second position before finally finishing 6th. Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) completes the podium.

Behind, the race was also hectic. On the French side, Esteban Ocon (Alpine) finished in 7th place, while Pierre Gasly (Alpine) is out of the top 10 (15th). Disappointment for Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), far from the points because only 12th.
