A Canadian Grand Prix full of twists and turns. Max Verstappen scored his sixth victory of the season, Sunday June 9, on the Montreal circuit. Second on the grid despite a similar time to Briton George Russell in qualifying, the Dutchman was not as imperial as usual, but he was smart enough to take advantage of the race events.

However, after 21 laps on a wet track due to heavy rain in Quebec, it was Lando Norris (McLaren) who overtook him, before overtaking the Mercedes of George Russell. But a yellow flag brought out after Logan Sargeant (Williams) stopped on track allowed the three-time world champion to regain the leading position in the pit stops, once the safety car was deployed.

In the lead, the Red Bull driver remained there until the end, despite new incidents having pushed the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, but also the car of his Mexican teammate Sergio Pérez, to abandon. Enough to allow the Dutchman to widen the gap in the drivers’ ranking. Lando Norris and George Russell completed the podium, while Frenchmen Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, 9th and 10th respectively, scored important points for Alpine.
