If Tom Hanks shone in Alone in the world by Robert Zemeckis in 2000, if there was a sequel today, he could well get the role taken by Max Verstappen. The Red Bull driver never stops crushing his discipline. New episode of this unchallenged domination on Saturday May 18, during qualifying practice for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, won hands down by the three-time world champion.
In the lead at the end of Q1 then Q2, Max Verstappen left no stone unturned for his opponents, before setting the best time in Q3, after missed free practices (5th, 7th and 6th). The Dutchman will therefore indeed start in pole position on Sunday, while his teammate Sergio Pérez will only start from 11th place.
On the front line, the Dutchman will be accompanied by Oscar Piastri (McLaren), who beat his teammate Lando Norris to the wire. Long in the mix, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) slipped to fourth place. On the French side, the Alpine of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will start from 12th and 15th positions respectively. Also note the day without Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), eliminated in Q1 and placed at the very back of the grid.
