In the end, it’s always the same person who wins. The Dutchman Max Verstappen won, Sunday November 26, his 19th victory this season, the 54th of his career, on the Yas Marina circuit, at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, ahead Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and George Russell (Mercedes). Already crowned world champion for the third time in a row in October, the Red Bull driver was never worried during the race, and scored a fourth victory in a row on this circuit. Max Verstappen also set a new record, having led 1000 laps this season.

“It will be very hard to repeat a season like this”

“I am very proud of what we have done this season. I want to thank everyone at Red Bull. It will be very hard to repeat a season like this in the future, but we will work very hard to have a very strong car next year.” reacted Max Verstappen a few minutes after his victory. His Mexican teammate Sergio Pérez, initially 2nd, received a 5-second penalty and dropped to 4th place.

Like last week in Las Vegas, Charles Leclerc took second place, having been on the podium three times in the last four GPs. The real suspense was between Ferrari and Mercedes, fighting for second place in the constructors’ standings, the first being occupied by a long way by Red Bull (860 points). While the scoreboard continued to evolve throughout the race between the two teams and despite the performance of Charles Leclerc, Mercedes ultimately won with 409 points, only three points more than Ferrari (406 ). On the French side, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly finished 12th and 13th respectively.
