The force of habit. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) achieved his seventh pole position of the year out of ten possible, Saturday July 8, after qualifying for the British Grand Prix. Although he broke his wing when he left the pits at the start of the session, the Dutch driver still managed to equal his total of first places for the 2022 season, with twelve fewer races.

A red flag raised three minutes from the end of Q1 after Kevin Magnussen (Haas) stopped in the middle of the track, however, caused the elimination of his teammate Sergio Pérez. Rare driver not to improve his time on the return to the track, despite finally dry asphalt, the Mexican went out for the fifth time in a row before Q3.

Norris in the front row, Gasly 10th

Alongside the reigning world champion, Lando Norris will start from the front row. At home, the Briton from McLaren had an almost perfect Saturday. It’s also an excellent start to the weekend for the team since Oscar Piastri beat the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to take third place.

On the French side, Esteban Ocon (Alpine) finished in 13th place after losing time in a long battle with Lance Stroll. He will therefore be behind his compatriot Pierre Gasly (Alpine), 10th on the grid.
