Under the Texan sun, Max Verstappen set the best time on Saturday 23 October, in qualifying for the United States GP. He is followed by Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Pérez. THEes two rivals never leave each other in the general classification and on the track. Their last opposition on Friday gave rise to an explosive duel, made of insults and a middle finger from the Dutchman for a priority he deemed not respected at the exit of the turn. Bottas completes the leading quartet. An unusual situation for Mercedes, who has reigned supreme in Austin since 2014 (5 consecutive victories), and will not start in pole position.

Charles Leclerc will start in fifth position, followed by the second Ferrari of Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo. Lando Norris will start in eighth position, Pierre Gasly will be in his wheels. Yuki Tsunoda completes the Top 10. The Alpine pilots, on the other hand, did not go beyond Q2. Esteban Ocon, 11th, is the first of the unqualified.
