Triple world champion Max Verstappen was already not keen on setting foot in Las Vegas for this new F1 adventure in the entertainment capital of the world. The opening ceremony held Wednesday evening frankly did not convince him.
The driver of the dominant Red Bull “felt like a clown” at the presentation of the drivers on the stage of the brand new paddocks.
“In my opinion, we could avoid all this. It’s not about the artists who delivered the show. But just standing there during the presentation, you look like a clown,” said the Dutchman with 17 victories this season and 96 career podiums.
In Brazil, he also let it be known that F1 was coming to Vegas only for the “show”.
In the midst of the festivities surrounding this third Grand Prix on American soil and this return to the entertainment capital, Verstappen nevertheless understands the commercial and marketing challenges of this new destination.

Apologies from F1
Furthermore, the leaders of F1, headed by Liberty Media boss Greg Maffei, apologized to the citizens and tourists of Las Vegas for all the nightmares experienced around the preparations for the race in the last year.
“We are grateful that they tolerate us. We will bring approximately $1.7 billion in revenue to this region. We hope this is beneficial for Las Vegas. This first edition is the most difficult to achieve with construction. Things will be easier in the future.”
