A woman in her fifties is in critical condition following an accident in Trois-Rives, Mauricie, involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.
Emergency services were alerted around 2:30 p.m. about a collision that occurred near Trois-Rives, on Route 155, at kilometre 75.
According to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the motorcycle traveling northbound deviated from its lane and collided with a vehicle traveling southbound on the same road.
The driver of the motorcycle had some injuries, but they were not believed to be life-threatening. His passenger, however, a woman in her fifties, reportedly suffered serious injuries that required her to be hospitalized quickly. She was taken to hospital and is in critical condition.
In the car, the driver, a woman in her thirties, was not injured, but the passenger of the vehicle, a woman in her fifties, had minor injuries. She was also taken to hospital.
A police officer trained in investigations and collisions was dispatched to the scene to clarify the causes and circumstances surrounding the event. According to the initial elements of the investigation, this appears to have been an accidental collision.
By 6:30 p.m. all traffic lanes had been reopened.
