Mauricie | A snowmobiler dies in Trois-Rives

(Trois-Rives) A ​​snowmobiler lost his life in an accident on Saturday evening in the small municipality of 397 inhabitants of Trois-Rives, located between Shawinigan and La Tuque in Mauricie.

Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) of the MRC de Mékinac were notified of the swerve around 9:30 p.m. by two or three people who accompanied the victim during this night hike near the Stinking Beasts River.

For some unknown reason, the man, who was alone in his racing car, swerved before hitting a tree and falling into a ravine.

“He was ejected and he would have fallen into a sort of ravine several meters below. He was unconscious when the emergency services arrived, but he was pronounced dead during the night at the Shawinigan hospital center,” said Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec ( SQ).

The victim is a man in his thirties. His identity was not immediately disclosed.

“A collision investigation investigator went out into the daylight this Sunday to try to finally understand what led to the loss of control which was unfortunately fatal for this man in his thirties,” said Sergeant Bilodeau. The SQ investigation is continuing.
