An octogenarian was close to death on Monday after being hit by a car that was turning to enter a business, in the municipality of Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel in Mauricie.

The accident took place late Monday afternoon. The man was driving north on Route 157, which connects Trois-Rivières to Shawinigan. A female driver turned left to enter a business, hitting it head-on.
The man was transported to the hospital where there were first fears for his life, before his condition stabilized. The driver, a 70-year-old, escaped unscathed.
Traffic alternated on Route 157 until 6:45 p.m. Monday. A police officer trained in collision investigation was dispatched to the scene to analyze the scene.
