Mauricie | A face-to-face between a truck and a car causes a death

(Lac-Aux-Sables) A ​​head-to-head collision occurred between a heavy truck and a car on Tuesday afternoon in Lac-aux-Sables, Mauricie. Both vehicles caught fire on impact and the driver was trapped inside the automobile. His death was noted on the spot, confirmed in the evening the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Route 153. Emergency services and police officers from the MRC Mékinac station were called to intervene in a face-to-face collision, said the carrier. word of the SQ, Nicolas Scholtus.

The fire department was also on the scene and firefighters used the jaws of life.

The truck driver, a man in his twenties, was taken to hospital with nervous shock. As for the person driving the car, “he was still present and imprisoned when the vehicle caught fire,” said Scholtus.

It is not yet known if it is the impact of the collision or the fire of the vehicle which started which caused the death. An autopsy will be performed on the person, whose age is not known at this time.

Route 153 has been closed to traffic near Chemin Saint-Alphonse and a detour has been put in place.

A collision investigation officer was dispatched to the scene to better understand the causes of the accident. No hypothesis has been ruled out for the moment.
