(Louiseville) A 67-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by the driver of a vehicle on a pedestrian crossing in Louiseville, Mauritius, early Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the van made her mandatory stop on rue Saint-Antoine before turning left on avenue Saint-Laurent, where the collision occurred with the pedestrian, said the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), Stéphane Tremblay.
The pedestrian, originally from Louiseville, was transported to the hospital center where she was declared dead.
The driver was treated for nervous shock.
The SQ is investigating this collision, which occurred at low speed. At first glance, there would be no criminal element.
