In Do not touch My TV on C8, Cyril Hanouna and the columnists discussed a subject. Indeed, a professor of Science, Life and Earth used the photo of singer and rapper Soprano in one of her classes to illustrate homo-sapiens on a timeline. This choice of a black person had been made after comments from students, wishing to see more diversity in the courses.
The father of a student considered it a racist act, comparing the singer to a monkey. He then posted the photo on social media. “There’s nothing that shocks you (…) Shitty national education. Spin it, we mustn’t accept”, he wrote in particular.
The teacher in question has been accused of racism. Threatened, she had to leave her post and the father of the family was sentenced to ten months in prison. He appealed.
On set, the majority sided with the teacher, while Guillaume Genton, Gilles Verdez and Matthieu Delormeau were offended. “This fresco is racist”, indicated the journalist while the ex-host of the Mag on NRJ 12 indicated: “This image is extremely awkward (…) for kids who will make the same assimilation! It’s very serious”.
An intervention that divided Internet users.
“Delormeau but close it. It’s odious to stigmatize people. Black, white, yellow, we all come from the same thing”, “Delormeau is really stupid, it’s proof that poppers are not great for neurons…”, “Is it humanly possible to be shittier than Delormeau”, “Delormeau, I don’t know what he’s up to, but it’s burning his brains out. I’m in pain to see him move throughout the show”, “Once again, the 2 morons of Delormeau and Verdez understand NOTHING!“, read as others defended his position:
“This photo is shocking and why not have had the feeling of a black person instead of having invited the other racist the … who sows hatred on all TV sets”, “Thank you Delormeau. The teacher must surely not not be racist but the image is still limited”, “Mathieu is right, we take his arguments and those of Guillaume for stupid remarks when there are some that are shocking”.
