Mattéo, 16, is the youngest student at UTBM this year

Big guy in a dark suit, ironed shirt, small leather briefcase, chosen words and impeccable delivery. At first glance, there is no reason to guess that Mattéo Boni has two years younger than his peers. And yet, the young man made his return to the UTBM at only 16 years old.

“I have always been the youngest”

“I have always tried to make sure that this difference does not impact. It is not something that makes a big difference compared to other students”, tempers Matteo. Having skipped CP class, he always been the youngest in class. Coming from Colmar, he settled in Bermont, in the Territoire de Belfort, not far from the Sévenans campus where he follows part of his courses. Not being old enough to pass the license, he must manage without a car. “At the moment I come on foot, I also have a bike that I plan to use regularly”he said.

Leaving his parents was not too difficult: “I have not seen them in tears, they know that I will always be able to manage as I have always done. In any case, it will be necessary”. If all goes well, Mattéo will complete his preparatory cycle in two years. He will be able to then choose a specialty. “The energy specialty could interest me but I think that in two years it can still change a lot”, he said. Until then, he will also have the opportunity to discover all the charms of student life.
