Comedians Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon will star inOppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s next feature film.
The specialized online site deadline.com made the announcement early Tuesday afternoon.
The film focuses on the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), the scientist who was at the head of the Manhattan Project dedicated to the invention of the first atomic bombs dropped over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. August 6 and 9, 1945.
Actress Emily Blunt is also part of the cast and is set to play Katherine, wife of Robert Oppenheimer.
According to the IMDB database, Matt Damon would play Lieutenant General Leslie Groves while Robert Downey Jr. would play the character of Lewis Strauss. In history, these two men have been closely associated with the Manhattan Project.
With a production budget of $ 100 million, Oppenheimer will be distributed by Universal and its release is expected on July 21, 2023.
Christopher Nolan’s most recent projects have been Tenet, Dunkerke, Interstellar, The Dark Knight Rises and Inception.
