(Scottsdale) The Arizona Coyotes have found common ground with forward Matias Maccelli, who was a restricted free agent.
Maccelli has signed a three-year, $10.2 million contract, according to a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity since the deal had not yet been publicly announced.
Maccelli had an immediate impact in his first full season with the Coyotes.
The 22-year-old Finn was second in scoring among NHL rookies before being sidelined for six weeks late in December. He ended the campaign with 11 goals and 38 assists in 64 games.
Maccelli finished fourth in voting for the Calder Trophy, given to the NHL’s most outstanding rookie.
His 49 points ranked him third among Coyotes scorers last winter.
