Title holder, but victim of a serious fall during the Tour of the Basque Country, Jonas Vingegaard is not on the starting line of the 76th Critérium du Dauphiné, which starts on Sunday June 2 from Saint-Pourçain-sur -Sioule (Allier), ending on Sunday June 9 with the final stage leading to the Glières plateau (Haute-Savoie). The Dane continues his race against time to line up at the start of the Tour de France on June 29. Also absent, his rival Tadej Pogacar, outrageously won the Giro.

For other favorites, this Dauphiné is a perfect rehearsal for the Grande Boucle. This is why Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step), Primoz Roglic (Bora-Hansgrohe), but also Tao Geoghegan Hart (Lidl-Trek), Sepp Kuss (Visma-Lease a Bike) and David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ) are there. Ahead of them, a spicy program with an arrival at the summit on Monday (Col de la Loge after four ascents), but also Tuesday (arrival at Les Estables), a time trial at Neulise (34.4 km) on Wednesday and a battle of climbers in the Alps (the 6th and 7th stages are judged at the top of a non-category pass), ending at the Glières plateau on Sunday afternoon.
