Mathieu Valbuena: New victory in court against OM, one month after the verdict on “the sextape affair”

New victory in court for Mathieu Valbuena. As reported Capital on December 24, 2021, the footballer won his lawsuit against theOlympic Marseille. His former club, in which he played between 2006 and 2014, was ordered to pay him the sum he claimed, namely 568,000 euros. A verdict rendered a month after the closure of another legal case involving the French international, that of the “sextape”.

The dispute between OM and Mathieu Valbuena dates back to the summer transfer window of 2014: to join the Dynamo Moscow club, the footballer had to change agent and leave Christophe Hutteau. An agreement had been made for the manager to receive compensation of 568,000 euros from the athlete, except that the latter had refused to pay him. Christophe Hutteau then had his former client’s Porsche seized and at the same time, the Aix-en-Provence tribunal de grande instance had ordered Mathieu Valbuena to pay the money. Something he finally did in June 2015.

If the ex-Bleu refused to pay his former manager, it is because he affirmed that an arrangement had been made at the time of his transfer to Dynamo Moscow so that OM pay the famous compensation. Mathieu Valbuena’s lawyer had even requested confirmation by email from Vincent Labrune, the club president at the time. Mail to which the latter had replied in the affirmative and yet the club refused to pay manager Christophe Hutteau. It is for this reason that Mathieu Valbuena had taken his former club to court and, in June 2018, the Marseilles industrial tribunal had condemned OM to pay the sportsman the 568,000 euros.

On December 10, 2021, the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal therefore confirmed the judgment rendered at first instance. In addition, the club of the Phocaean city must pay 5,000 euros in damages and 2,500 euros to reimburse legal costs. Mathieu Valbuena’s legal disputes finally seem to be behind him, after the recent verdict in the “sextape affair”, in which his former friend in the French team, Karim Benzema, was notably involved.
