Mathieu Perreault retires

Mathieu Perreault officially hangs up his skates. The Quebecer is now making the leap into the media world.

The 34-year-old will join the team of The blue pocketa new daily show that will air over the next few days on the TVA Sports channel.

The Drummondvillois played 734 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He will have scored 352 points, including 143 goals. He concluded his career by playing his last season in the uniform of the Montreal Canadiens, collecting nine points in 25 games.

Perreault also played for the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks and Winnipeg Jets during his 13 NHL seasons.

The forward was a sixth-round pick by the Capitals in 2006.

In the junior ranks, Perreault stood out with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was voted league MVP in the 2006-2007 season, in addition to winning the scoring championship the following season.
