Masters Tournament | Tiger Woods added to participant list

(Augusta) Tiger Woods’ name has been added to the list of players who will participate in the Masters Tournament, an encouraging sign for his presence at the prestigious tournament which will be presented next month at Augusta National.


Woods, who is 48 years old, has five victories (1997, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2019) in 25 career appearances. He is just one title short of equaling Jack Nicklaus’ mark of six.

Woods’ name appeared in the list of golfers who will participate in the tournament in 2024 on the Masters website, and which differs from that of “former champions who will be absent”. His name appears on the list of “players of the 2024 edition”.

Woods withdrew from the tournament during the third round last year, citing plantar fasciitis, and underwent ankle surgery shortly afterward.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner made his return to action at the Hero World Challenge and the PNC Championship last fall, and made his first PGA Tour start since surgery. Genesis Invitational Tournament last month. Woods posted a 72 (plus-1) in the first round, before withdrawing from the competition after seven holes in the second round.

Woods wrote the day after his retirement on his official ‘X’ account that he had been affected by the influenza virus.

The Masters Tournament will take place from April 11 to 14.
