Bodies were exhumed in two hospitals in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army, which intervened on the scene, denies having dug these mass graves.
Bodies were exhumed in two locations in Gaza: at al-Chifa hospital in the north and at al-Nasser hospital, the largest complex, in the south of the Gaza Strip. In the compound, using excavators, the Palestinian civil defense recovered bodies, wrapped in plastic bags. Thursday, April 25, 283 bodies were found, according to Hamas communication. “We noted that the Israeli occupation had dug a mass grave (…), there would be hundreds of martyrs, between 300 and 400”says Raed Saqer, member of the Palestinian civil defense at al-Nasser hospital.
The United Nations asks questions
Before the arrival of the Israeli army, Palestinians were digging graves on January 22. A few days later, another video shows a large trench dug by Palestinians. The Israeli army denies having dug mass graves, but admits to having intervened at the scene. When she arrived at the hospital, she claimed to have dug up the bodies to see if any hostages were among the dead.
The United Nations inquired and reported that some of the dead had their hands tied and were stripped of their clothes. The United States and France are calling for an independent investigation.
