Long known for its expressive thermal engines produced by Ferrari, Maserati continues its green shift by unveiling an all-electric variant of its GranCabrio.
Convertible version of the GranTurismo, this convertible therefore has the electric motor architecture of the Folgore version. There are three 402 hp electric motors working on the task. Combined power is capped at 818 hp, of which 750 hp is continuously available.
A 92.5 kWh battery stores the necessary energy. It is connected to an 800 V electrical architecture, ensuring a maximum charging power of 270 kW. The estimated range is around 420 km in the European cycle (WLTP), which is more optimistic than the North American measurement cycle.
To sustain a 0-100 km/h time of 2.8 seconds, this GranCabrio is equipped with adaptive shock absorbers and optional air springs. Perfect weight distribution between the front and rear as well as a low center of gravity promise good road handling, according to the trident brand. This convertible will, however, have to drag 2,340 kg… which is comparable to certain liveries of the Ford F-150.
This concept of a convertible electric vehicle seems very interesting on paper. It allows us to enjoy the sunny days in greater silence wrapped in an elegant Maserati dress. No word yet on the price, which promises to be inevitably high, or on the timing of its arrival.
