Maserati makes the leap to Formula E

Formula E received a healthy dose of adrenaline with less than three weeks to go to the start of the season as it announced Maserati’s arrival in its ranks starting in 2023.

Maserati will certainly come to fill part of the void left by Audi and BMW, who left the discipline at the end of the last campaign, and possibly Mercedes, which will leave the series this year.

Maserati’s first season, in 2023-2024, will be the first in which third-generation (Gen3) single-seaters will be used.

“We are very proud to be back in our place as protagonists in the world of motor racing,” Maserati General Manager Davide Grasso said in a statement. We are driven by passion and innovative by nature. We have a long history of excellence. ”

Maserati has had many successes in motor racing. The Argentinian Juan Manual Fangio notably won the Formula 1 World Championship aboard a single-seater adorned with the trident in 1957.

“We are delighted that Maserati is joining Formula E and playing a decisive role in rethinking the future of motorsport,” commented Quebecer Jamie Reigle, FE general manager. Our millions of fans around the world will be delighted to see Maserati line up on the starting grid. ”

Quebec racing enthusiasts will be able to follow the season on the airwaves of VAT Sports, official broadcaster of the series, starting January 28 with the ePrix from Dariya, Saudi Arabia.
