Marseille does not want to see him, receive him, or listen to him sing Barbara

Will sing? Won’t sing? If he is expected this Thursday, June 15 at the Silo in Marseille to complete the tour of his recital “Depardieu sings Barbara”, Gérard Depardieu does not yet know if he will be able to perform. Indeed, as reported Provence this day, the 74-year-old artist has raised many feminist collectives who do not want them to perform in the Marseille hall.

The collectives denounced the comedian’s arrival by posting numerous messages against his arrival on the facade of the Silo. “The black eagle is Gérard”, “The man = the artist, no impunity for rapists”, can we read in particular. And this is not the only action of feminist collectives. As our colleagues recall, Gérard Depardieu was already the subject of a petition on June 1, 2023 which requested the cancellation of his visit to the Silo. A letter was even sent to the mayor of Marseille, Benoît Payan.

Gérard Depardieu, not welcome in Marseille

“Justice confirmed on March 10, 2022 his indictment for rape and sexual assault due to the existence of serious or concordant indications which suggest that Gérard Depardieu did indeed commit the acts of sexual assault and rape of which he is accused […] Maintaining this concert would be a way of supporting an alleged attacker, accused by 14 women and indicted by the courts.denounced the activists in particular.

The town hall did not give an answer, as did the management of the Silo. In fact, feminist collectives have decided to take action. A message is circulating on social networks to request a mobilization this Thursday evening in front of the performance hall. A situation reminiscent of the demonstrations in front of the Sébastopol theater in Lille, just before a performance by the artist, on April 19, 2023. As a reminder, Gérard Depardieu has been indicted since September 16, 2020 for acts of sexual assault and rape . This is why many activists are protesting.
