Paris achieved its “remontada”, Tuesday April 16, by eliminating Barça at home in the quarter-final second leg of the Champions League. With a 4-1 victory at the Montjuïc Olympic stadium in Barcelona, after conceding a 2-3 defeat in the first leg, the teammates of Kylian Mbappé, author of a double, also savored this success… on the social networks, by hijacking Barça publications made for the first leg.
A few days before the first leg, Wednesday April 10, the community manager of FC Barcelona had indeed given his heart to tackling Paris Saint-Germain on social networks. In the few posts from the Catalan club, the Mona Lisa was proudly displayed with a Barça jersey, a hot air balloon in the club’s colors paraded above the Seine… Provocations that have remained, until now, without response from of the Parisian club. After taking its revenge on the field, PSG therefore retaliates on social networks.
“The Battle of Montjuïc”
In a first publication, next to Mona Lisa wearing the FCB jersey at the Louvre, sits a gigantic painting representing Parisian captain Marquinhos exulting after the Parisian victory. The work’s label reads “The Battle of Montjuïc. Barcelona – 2024”.
In another publication, we find the hot air balloon that Barça had hovered above the Seine a week ago, stranded in the river. “Paris is waking up“, laughs the community manager.
Finally, in a third publication, the columns of the legendary Place Royale in Barcelona are decorated with a Parisian flag mentioning “We are Paris”. “We are in the semi-finals”, rejoices PSG.
Diversions which are equal to the relief of all PSG supporters, starting with the Parisian president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, who had been waiting for this moment for a long time: “Historic for the club, for us, and especially here in Barcelona! We are very proud. I think it was one of the best moments I’ve ever had.“, he confided to the franceinfo microphone.
But now, Paris can no longer hide: the road to Wembley where the final will take place is all mapped out. But we will have to overcome the obstacle set up by Borussia Dortmund on April 30 and May 7.
