Alongside the mayor of Reims, Arnaud Robinet, Marlene Schiappa, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior, in charge of Citizenship, visited the Christmas market this Saturday evening in Reims.
She arrived around 6 p.m. and left three quarters of an hour later, after discussions with traders, passers-by but especially the police. The Minister came, in fact, to ensure the proper implementation of the sanitary device.
We are citizens like the others so I am also subject to the health pass, the wearing of a mask, hydroalcoholic gel and vaccination “- Marlène Schiappa
Before entering the enclosure of the market, on the square of the cathedral, the Minister first presented her sanitary pass. ” We are citizens like the others so I am also subject to the health pass, the wearing of a mask, hydroalcoholic gel and vaccination. I did my booster dose yesterday and I am happy not to have any side effects to be present here in Reims“, declared Marlène Schiappa, after entering the market.
The Minister’s visit comes two days before the health defense council, which must be held at the Elysee Palace. “We will see Monday what is decided, in any case we are here in Reims at the Christmas market, which lasts all weekend and beyond and I believe that we are in a period where the spirit of Christmas is fundamental to find us.”
A visit also focused on the police
Beyond the health protocol, Marlène Schiappa also discussed with the police around the security of the christmas market. She met with the municipal and national police, as well as with the soldiers of the sentinel operation.
But Marlène Schiappa wished to remain reassuring. ” There is no particular security risk in Reims compared to other places, but with the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, we are always vigilant. (…) 37 attacks have been thwarted since the start of the year (…) and that is why this mobilization of the police is fundamental.”
During her visit, the Minister also spoke with passers-by and traders.
