Marion Maréchal, Laurence Trochu and Guillaume Peltier have chosen their camp in the European Parliament. The European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) announced on Wednesday June 19 that they had integrated 11 new members, including the three French MEPs. Elected on the Reconquête list, a formation from which they have since been excluded, they joined this far-right group where another former Reconquête candidate, Nicolas Bay, is already present, as well as representatives of Fratelli d’Italia, the party of the head of the Italian government, Giorgia Meloni.

“Welcome to our new MEPs!”, tweeted ECR. The group is pleased to have become the third political force in the European Parliament (with 83 members), behind the European People’s Party (EPP, right and center right), and the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (left and center left) .

The far right is regrouping in the European Parliament after results marked by its progress during the elections of June 9. Thus, the ECR group obtained 76 seats in the election, but today sees its ranks expanded by a certain number of MEPs who are currently among the approximately 90 not registered.

The other far-right group in the European Parliament, Identity and Democracy, to which the National Rally belongsfor its part has 58 seats to date.
