Marion Maréchal denounces the use of her image by the far-right “small group” Parti de la France without her authorization

The head of list of Eric Zemmour’s party for the European elections refuses the use of his image by the Party of France – without commenting on the message of the adjacent posters, which carry the text “Let’s give a future to white children” .

Frictions between two far-right groups. Marion Maréchal, head of the list of Eric Zemmour’s Reconquest party in the European elections, denounced on the X network use by a “groupuscule” far-right image of his image without his consent, Saturday May 11.

The controversy arises from a photo published on Saturday on the X network, showing several posters stuck side by side, without the place or date where this photo was taken being specified. Some of these posters show a photo of Marine Le Pen’s niece, accompanied by the message “The Party of France with Marion Maréchal”. Alongside them, others present the image of a blond child with blue eyes and white skin, with the text “Let’s give white children a future”. A message denounced as openly racist by many Internet users.

Some have directly attributed these posters to Marion Maréchal and Reconquête, such as the account “Europe with Valérie Hayer”an unofficial account of support for the head of the presidential majority list.

No comment on the content of the message

Marion Maréchal reacted by denouncing in a publication on “a gross manipulation” of a “groupuscule”, and confirms that the posters do not come from Reconquête – without commenting on the support provided by the “Party of France”. The candidate of the far-right party in the European elections also published a formal notice sent to the president of the “Parti de la France” Thomas Joly on April 17, in which she explains that this campaign was launched at the “single initiative” of this group and “without [la] to consult”.

A response deemed unsatisfactory by communist senator Ian Brossat. “You will note, when reading her letter, that what bothers her about this poster is that it will be attributed to her campaign account, not its racist character and inspired by Nazi slogans…”the senator from Paris is indignant about X.

Thomas Joly responded by deploring in a publication on “very unnecessary controversy”. He assures that“there was never any question of manipulating anyone or anything since the posters we produced only indicate that the Party of France supports [Marion Maréchal] for this European election”.

He also recalls that the group, founded by former members of the National Front in 2009, had already affirmed its support for Eric Zemmour for the 2022 presidential election. “without causing such a knee-jerk reaction”.
