Marion Cotillard solo: natural hair and sober look, a perfect appearance

A prestigious voice cast has been assembled to provide the voices of the characters in the animated film Charlotte, whose Parisian preview took place on November 7, 2022. In the presence of co-director Eric Warin, the screening was also provided in the presence of Marion Cotillard. The French star lends her sweet timbre to the heroine of this powerful and moving work.

Temporarily leaving her sublime house in Los Angeles for the presentation at the UGC des Halles in Paris, Marion Cotillard chose to wear a quilted black ensemble that echoes the famous pattern of Dior, house of which she was one of the precious muses. With natural hair and subtly made-up eyes to leave room for her magnificent gaze, the actress was lovely in the spotlight. Mother of two children born from her relationship with Guillaume Canet, Marcel (11 years old) and Louise (5 years old), she is delighted to have participated in this feature film selected at the prestigious Annecy festival. We will then find her in a radically different universe in February 2023 in Cleopatra for Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom.

In Charlotte’s production notes, she explains: “I immersed myself in his painting, and I found it magnificent. As for his story, I found it completely crazy, incredible; this young woman will have experienced so much in such a short period of time and will have released such a poignant and beautiful art.” In the English version, it is Keira Knightley who doubles the main character. Romain Duris and Anne Dorval also collaborated for the French version.

Who is this famous Charlotte Salomon? Born in Berlin in 1917, she was a German painter who died in Auschwitz in 1943. She is the author of Life ? Or theatre? a collection of autobiographical paintings that have been exhibited around the world. In this film by Eric Warin and Tahir Rana, we can follow the too short but intense existence of this young German Jewish painter, whose destiny changes on the eve of the Second World War. Faced with the whirlwind of history and the revelation of a family secret, only an extraordinary act can save her. She then begins her life’s work…
