Created in 2001 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Marrakech International Film Festival opened its doors for the 19th time on Friday November 11, 2022. Its exceptional second evening was devoted to American director James Gray – The Immigrant, The Lost City of Z, Ad Astra. On this occasion, the 53-year-old filmmaker was entitled to a pretty gold star, handed over by Marion Cotillard herself (she played in The Immigrant, a not insignificant choice then…). Will then be honored in the coming days, Tilda Swinton, Farida Benlyazid and Ranveer Singh.
Marion Cotillard is the best of the best
For nineteen years, the Marrakech International Film Festival has been promoting and developing art and the film industry in Morocco. Among the guests who walked the red carpet to attend the James Gray tribute evening, many recognized the divine Diane Kruger, walking the carpet in a sparkling dress with an endless back neckline. The German actress then settled into her seat at the Palais des Congrès to attend the director’s speech, then watch a preview of his new film Armageddon Time. “It is moving to receive the Etoile d’or from Marion Cotillard, who is the best of the best“, said the filmmaker.
