She hopes “refound” a party that “has suffered too much from individualism”. The municipal councilor of Hénin-Beaumont (Pas-de-Calais) Marine Tondelier declared her candidacy for the post of national secretary of Europe Ecology-The Greens, in a letter sent to activists and AFP on Monday, October 10.
This close friend of former national secretaries Cécile Duflot, David Cormand and Julien Bayou is a favorite in the succession of the latter, who resigned from his post after accusations of psychological violence made by his ex-companion. A congress to replace him was already planned for December.
In her letter, Marine Tondelier insists on the need for ecologists to be “collectives”, after a period marked by the televised questioning of Julien Bayou by the deputy Sandrine Rousseau. “Our project is radical. It’s something we have in common. We must also be radicals of the collective, of ethics and of setting an example, defends the one who has notably overseen the organization of the party’s “Summer Days” in recent years. Be as demanding of ourselves as we are of others”.

Marine Tondelier insists, with reference to the current situation within EELV: “I will take my share of responsibility for ensuring that our movement is a welcoming, inclusive, serene, non-violent, protective, reassuring militant framework. We must each question ourselves about our practices, and where we spend our time”.

On the alliance side, Marine Tondelier estimated in her text of motion, complementary to her statement on Monday, that the Nupes had only had one success. “relative” during the legislative elections, and proclaimed: “Let us affirm our ambition to make political ecology the engine of unity.”
