“An episode of maritime pollution affects the town of Grau-du-Roi near Espiguette beach”the Gard prefecture said on Friday July 26. “This pollution takes the form of black slicks which spread out into the sea in a scattered manner over 6 kilometres in length, whilst remaining within the territory of the commune”adds the prefecture. The prefect of Gard has activated the ORSEC POLMAR Terre system, a measure to combat marine pollution on the French coast, indicates France Bleu Gard Lozère.
The Gard prefecture indicates that this pollution began at 2:30 p.m. “matter”still not formally identified, ran aground on some beaches of Grau-du-Roi. On social networks, the campsite “Eden” claims that the Espiguette lifeguards have identified “small flakes of oil on the beaches of Espiguette”.
