Marine Lrouille looks back on the “really inappropriate behavior” she suffered during a surgical internship

On her Instagram account, the former Miss France confided that she was not spared by the sexist and sexual violence which plagued the hospital environment during her medical studies.

“I was treated to dozens and dozens of dirty sex jokes”, revealed Marine Ltemporel, doctor and Miss France 2013, in a video posted on her Instagram account Tuesday April 23. This public speech comes atas the #MeToo wave reaches the hospital world in France. Since Karine Lecombe’s testimony, the floor has been freed, to the relief of the influencer: “Thank you to all the caregivers, doctors included, who bear witness to what is happening in the corridors of the hospital.”

On her social networks, she confided that she had not been spared by the sexist and sexual violence which plagues the hospital environment. Unfortunately, I also paid the price.”she says in front of her camera, mentioning “a particularly grueling surgical internship”accomplished “very young”after being elected Miss France.

“I regret not having known what to do”

“I was treated to dozens and dozens of dirty jokes, questions about my privacy, wandering hands and really inappropriate behavior”she specifies, before expressing her regrets “for not having said anything”neither “knew what to do”. She explains this silence by the fact “that we had to accept these behaviors (…) attributed to former doctors, of the older generation”.

“You shouldn’t make waves at the hospital if you want your internship to be approved.”

The video concludes with an optimistic message, given the “evolving mentalities”. After reminding that women are not the only ones to be affected by this problem, Marine Ltemporel returns to the need to speak. She says she hopes “that it will help to reduce, or even eliminate, sexism in hospitals”.
