Unsurprisingly, Marine Le Pen will be a legislative candidate in June, in the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais, as confirmed by the interim president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, on Monday April 25. The latter will also keep the controls of the far-right party until September 10, as planned, he said in an interview with France Télévisions.
The day before, in her defeat speech, the finalist presidential candidate had declared: “Tonight we are launching the great battle of the legislative elections. I will lead this battle alongside Jordan Bardella. (…) The historic score this evening places our camp in an excellent position to obtain a large number of deputies.” And to conclude, without saying more about his personal intentions: “I will never abandon the French.”
Marine Le Pen was elected in 2017 with 58.60% of the vote. Jordan Bardella has already indicated that she could accept “the outstretched hand of Reconquest!”the party of Eric Zemmour, to forge possible alliances for this two-round majority vote. “Mbut it will be case by case”he said, adding that there would be no “no global agreement”.
