Marine Le Pen annoyed and jostled by Léa Salamé: “People have the right to the truth”

Tense exchange between Léa Salamé and Marine Le Pen on the airwaves of France Inter this May 18, 2022 during the 7/9. The host and political journalist pushed the former presidential candidate who finished in the second round, beaten by Emmanuel Macron, to her limits. The subjects of contention were numerous, but there is one question that has put the leader of the National Rally out of her.

In the old legislative, you voted against a number of measures. You voted against the whatever the cost, voted against the tariff shield on energy. My question is whether you will vote against the purchasing power tariff measures“, says Léa Salamé during the morning of France Inter. After having tried to cut her several times, the politician explains herself: “People have the right to the truth. OK ? And incidentally, they are entitled to precision. I did not vote against these measures, I voted against the budget. When you’re in opposition, I’m sorry to tell you, you vote against the budget. (…) The government budget is a disaster.”

Léa Salamé then insists: “So you will systematically oppose everything[Emmanuel Macron] propose to ?“Visibly annoyed, Marine Le Pen corrects her:”No, that’s not what I said. I have always worked constructively. We will do whatever it takes to help the French, so that all French people are helped.” Annoyed by the comments of the radio host, however, she was not as marked as when Anne-Sophie Lapix had questioned her bluntly about her links with Russia during the campaign during the program.
