In Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises, in the town of General de Gaulle, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen each won 69 votes in the first round of the presidential election.

In Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises (Haute-Marne), Friday April 15, on the land of General de Gaulle, LREM activists are trying to find votes for the outgoing president. In this village of 300 voters, in the first round of the presidential election, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen both came out on top, with 69 votes each. The Gaullists do not understand how the National Rally, historically anti-Gaullist, can obtain so many votes in their commune.

For Yves Consigny, former neighbor of General de Gaulle, who carried his coffin, Jean-Marie Le Pen fought the general. “It hasn’t changed its name”, he assures. For Gérard Natali, former bearer of General de Gaulle’s coffin, the fact that Emmanuel Macron changed the crest of the Elysée to put a cross of Lorraine on it is a sign that the current president is a Gaullist. For its part, the RN finds points of convergence with the general, such as respect for the nation.
