Marieke Huysmans-Berthou’s Pianocéan project, the symbiosis between navigation and music

Mixing the life of a sailor with that of a musician, combining travel, navigation and the piano, this is the essence of Marieke Huysmans-Berthou’s Pianocéan project. For half a dozen years, she has been surveying European seas during spring and summer, and going from port to port to offer concerts from her boat, Lady Flow, specially fitted out for a piano to appear on deck. thanks to an elevator system. The adventure began in the Mediterranean, with her friend Anne-Lise. Initiatory journey, where Marieke met her companion and future father of their son, Arann. Then, and for two years, it was the Irish shores that welcomed the musician and her crew, before a season around Scotland.

Today, Lady Flow is in the dry, in Brittany, for major repairs, the piano is in Rennes to get a makeover, and Marieke is back in Drôme to offer two concerts, in Bourg-lès-Valence this Friday January 7 at 6.30 p.m. at the media library, and tomorrow Saturday in Lans-en-Vercors, at the cinema le Clap, from 8.30 p.m., with the screening of the documentary “Sous le ciel de l’Ouest”, the subject of which is this project Pianocean.
