After five months of absence due to a serious ophthalmological problem, Marie Sophie Lacarrau has returned to the head of the 1 p.m. TF1on May 16th.
“During the battle, I lived in the dark for two months, curtains drawn, few lights on, sunglasses indoors. My right eye remained closed. It was zero screen. I couldn’t even read or listen to music that gave me headaches.” she confided in the columns of Parisian about her serious eye infection, amoebic keratitis, caused by her contact lenses, which led her to take a long-term sick leave. The 46-year-old journalist has freed herself from her contact lenses, teleprompter and has adapted lighting. “The hardest part was finding the right lighting on set. The adjustments took quite a long time (…) After two very hard months in the dark, my eye was still unable to withstand too strong a light”she confided to TV Star last May.
In the columns of our colleagues from TV 7 Daysthe presenter indicated to be “relieved to be back on air” who helped her “to turn the page. These five months have been difficult. It has been a sudden halt, a leap into the unknown”. She added: “The risk of losing my sight was real. It was curable, but healing takes time (…) I was lucky to be well surrounded, by my family, my relatives, the team of 13 h, it carried me”.
If today, her worries are behind her, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau wants to focus on one thing: “To continue this link maintained by Jean-Pierre Pernaut, for nearly thirty-three years. We keep our fundamentals: to be as close as possible to the concerns of the French and to discover the treasures of our terroirs”.
