Behind her bar, which she still runs with an iron fist, this lady from Hauts-de-France does not mince words to say that politics was better and simpler before.

“Since he became president, there have been misfortunes. The yellow vests for example. You have to love politics to do what he does”comments Marie-Louise Wirth, 104, behind her bar in Isbergues (Hauts-de-France). “I was 14 when my parents opened. My father always told me that we had the right to vote and that we had to do it. So even if he is no longer there, I still obey him “she explains. “Whether we vote blue or red, it doesn’t matter, we have to go! Everyone does what they want, but it’s a right and it’s stupid to lose it”.

“I don’t sleep at night so I listen to politics”, explains Marie-Louise. At 104, she has seen many elections and presidents. “There are too many political parties now. There weren’t puppets like Zemmour at the time. It’s up to the one who will ride on the other”she laments.

“Before there was an agreement, we helped our neighbor, we gave a hand. Whereas now we don’t take care of that anymore. You just have to manage on your own. In my time when we were young, we didn’t see that. Now it’s only money that matters”insists finally Marie-Louise.

And when asked if she knows who to vote for, she replies, always outspoken: “It’s nobody’s business!”
